Wickedness In The Name of God!

The northern part of Nigeria is boiling again and the reason for this latest boiling is a group of angry, vicious, wretched, tattered and rag-wearing men called the ‘Boko Haram’ who go about looting people’s property, burning down churches and houses and fighting and killing policemen as well as burning the police stations in the name of God.

The epicentre of the latest madness is the Bauchi State of the northern Nigeria. ‘Boko Haram’ literally meaning ‘Western Education Prohibited’ a self-styled ‘Taliban’ intent on imposing Sharia law on all Nigerians widened its offensive couple of days ago in violence that has left over 150 people dead.

The Islamic group opposed to western education launched attacks across four Northern provinces over the last few days and declared its intention to fight to the death. Civilians were pulled from their cars and shot, their corpses then left scattered around the streets, witnesses told the media.

This time around they have a cardinal objective to achieve; to get rid of the western education in the northern part of Nigeria and eventually the whole of Nigeria which they blamed for the numerous ills afflicting the north of the country and ultimately to impose the Sharia law in the whole of the country.

To put this picture in perspective, it is worthwhile drawing a picture of what Nigeria looks like. Nigeria is the most populous black nation on earth with over 145 million people divided along the north and the south.

The north is predominately Islam with two powerful religious heads dictating what goes on not only there but also in the rest of Nigeria. These rulers, the Sultan of Sokoto and the Emir of Gwandu are the most powerful amongst the Muslim faithful in Nigeria and both leaders are descendents of Shehu Usman Dan Fodio who brought the good news of Islam to the north of Nigeria.

As a result of this, both rulers are usually the court of last resort on issues bothering the Muslims of Nigeria. They are highly respected and have the power to ratify the appointment of other rulers of the Muslim communities in Nigeria including the Emir of Kano, Emir of Ilorin, Shehu of Borno and numerous others. Their words and verdict are final and respected as the interpretation of the will of the Allah hence the ease with which they could manipulate and play on the intelligence of the northern masses who are predominately illiterate, poor, nomadic and agrarian.

Right from the day Nigeria got her independence from the United Kingdom, the north with the full support of these two rulers had always wanted to introduce Sharia in the whole of Nigeria despite the fact that Muslims make up only about 50 percent of the entire Nigerian population and are concentrated only in the northern part.

In actual fact in the 1990s during the military junta of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida there was a well orchestrated and covert guerrilla-like plan to drag Nigeria into the Organisation of the Islamic Countries; however the leaking of the information to the Christian south followed by wide protests led the junta to back off.

Frankly the relationship between the Muslims and Christians in Nigeria has been like this. It is filled with suspicion of each other, tension and amassing of souls and converts by all means. For instance the northern Muslims have killed the southern Christians living up in the north on many occasions for no just reason and the Nigeria/Biafran Civil War of the late 1960s was also as a result of lynching and killing of the Southern Christians in the north especially those of Igbo extraction.

Recently a traditional ruler in one of the northern states resorted to abducting and impregnating young northern and southern Christian girls. His reason was that he is doing it for Allah who is obviously pleased that he is populating the nation with Muslims as well as forcefully making them Muslims. Allah must be happy then!

About ten years ago when Nigeria eventually returned to democracy with a Christian president, almost all the northern states began to introduce Sharia in their states despite the fact that Nigeria is and has been a secular state. The reason behind this was to scuttle the hard earned democracy because a northern Muslim was not elected a president. Well that stupid action backfired because as soon as they began to cut people’s fingers, hands and legs, all the multinationals in the region began to pull out and come down to the south.

This action weakened seriously the already battered economy of the north. However the response of the then President Obasanjo that Shariawill die a natural death came to pass because when it dawned on the northern Muslims that democracy has come to stay they began to chicken away by resorting to other subtle way to scuttle the democracy including rejecting the polio immunisation for their kids and forcing their children to marry early to dent the image of the country. All of them as usual backfired.

Bearing all these in mind, one begins to ask where all these stupidity, idiotic behaviour and wickedness are coming from. Though we may claim not to know where all these are coming from, the fact still remains that Nigeria bargained for it. We are reaping the fruit we planted.

During the colonial era, the British forbade the Christian missionaries from evangelising the north in order to pacify the Muslims and have them under their leadership. That embargo was not also placed on the Muslim missionaries trying to evangelise the south. Therefore the leverage given to the northern Muslims to misbehave dated right from the time of the British colonialism.

Right from the outset, the north never wanted to be part of One Nigeria and that is justified because they do not have anything in common with the rest of the country. The north is more Arabic than the rest of the country and Hausa is basically the official language there and is even used as a medium of instructions even right up to the university level as well as in the government offices quite unlike in the south where English is the everyday language. The north is predominately Islam and the south is predominantly Christian.

It is because of all these big differences that the north never wanted from day one to be part of the common wealth of Nigeria and they have done everything possible to scuttle the unity of the country including fighting, boycotting, killing, collective disobedience and all sorts of things tantamount to secession and treasonable felony.

Since the independence and in every constitutional conference the north has always tried stupidly to introduce the Sharia law for the whole nation despite the fact that we are not all Muslims. The summary of this behaviour is that the northern Muslims have never from day one had respect for other parts of the country and what they believe in. There is nothing like accommodation and tolerance in their dictionary. They have always treated issues that concern them with utmost respect and dignity and that of others with contempt.

Some years back, when Nigeria wanted to host the Miss World pageant, the northern Muslims vehemently resisted it arguing that women walking up and down in bikini contravenes their belief. This argument as stupid and foolish as it was never put into consideration the fact that Nigeria is not a Muslim or theocratic country. When the government threatened to go on with the pageant coupled with negative press reports, they went on rampage burning churches and houses and killing people in the name of Allah.

However, it should also noted that the north should not be blamed exclusively for all these stupidity. I consent it is not their fault entirely. Prior to 1916, the north and the south of Nigeria are two separate entities in terms of government and every other thing. It has been and was like that till Fredrick Lord Lugard came to the scene with his girl friend, Flora Shaw, who would later become his wife.

Tradition had it that one day in 1916, during a very sweaty and sticky orgy with Flora, he asked her what to do with the two entities and replying under the influence of the alcohol-fuelled orgy, Flora told him to amalgamate the two things and call them Nigeria and so it was that the following day Lord Lugard amalgamated the two entities and named them Nigeria as suggested by Flora.

That was the genesis of Nigeria problem. Nigeria was born as a result of an alcohol-fuelled orgy and not because it was destined to be so. There is never a destiny in the two entities being together because as I rightly pointed out ab initio, they never had no nothing in common. Bearing this in mind then, one could understand the reason the north has been foolishly trying to scuttle the commonwealth of Nigeria.

It is against this backdrop that one begins to wonder the wisdom behind the idea of these young men in the north who are so fed up with the western education that they want to go back to Madrasa where they study under the cashew and mango trees. This is not ridiculous. It is a very serious issue.

Islam is guilty of imposing beliefs and way of life on its followers and others. It simply has no respect for boundaries and feelings of others. The trend is not only present in Nigeria but in every place where there is Islam. This is contrary to common sense and democracy bearing in mind that under democracy individuals are assured of the freedom to the right to think, hold opinion and act in their own way. If an individual decides to abandon the western education and end up under the cashew or mango tree as his school, it is a personal decision and that must be respected. However for one person to force another to do that is completely unacceptable under the democracy.

The Nigeria government has got to make hays while the sun shines. These individuals are lawless bunch and should be treated as such. They have the right to their own opinion, religion, way of life and stupidity but to impose same obnoxious and archaic way of life violently on the rest of the people is a message the Nigerian government should let them know is not acceptable under our own democracy.

It is painful that these young men should be going about and making trouble in the name of Allah. Part of the blame is frankly speaking on their leaders and dirty illiterate Imams who have from the foundation of this country fomented trouble and violence in the name of religion and God. It is therefore quite understandable that these young men are playing and dancing to the tunes of their masters and that is why the Federal Governmet of Nigeria should go after their masters to nip the problem on the bud.

This could not be very easy bearing in mind the fear the government has developed over a long period of time on issues bothering on the north and Islam. The Federal Government has spent more time trying to pacify a group that does not want to be pacified. And the fact that the present Nigerian President is a Muslim may not help the issue since they are birds of feathers that flock together. A kettle cannot morally call a pot black. The north and Islam have for a long time been treated with kid’s gloves hence the ample opportunity they have to be messing up. I therefore think it is the right time to frankly tell the north to let the whole nation know their agenda.

The government should stop treating the north with kid’s glove because they are drawing us back and wasting our resources on issues that are not important to the building and development of the nation. They should be frank with the north and northern Muslims. The rest of us are beginning to see Islam as compatible with violence and they should be aware of this fact.

We should not be afraid to say the truth as it is. We do not understand the northern Muslims with their hidden agenda anymore and they need to come clean for us to move or mar this nation together. Being afraid of the northern Muslims serves nobody no good. In actual fact it strengthens the north and weakens the south and all of us. We should not be afraid to associate Islam with violence if that is what it seems to us from the behaviour of its adherents. The truth should be told no matter whose Ox is gored.

No religion has got a monopoly over violence and no man has got this monopoly of violence alone. Man and religion by nature could be violent and the history of both religion and man has taught us this over and over again. Therefore for the Muslim north to always vent their anger and frustration on the lives and properties of the northern Christian minorities and the southern Christians is not acceptable at all. That message must be made clear to them.

No one can claim to be a believer in a God and yet in the name of same God sheds blood, steal and loot properties. God is not compatible with violence and stealing and His name is peace. Therefore for any religion to claim monopoly over violence in the name of God is idiotic, ridiculous and very stupid and this is what every one of us should fight against. The northern Muslims have been doing this for a long time and it is high time we all join hands and tell them that enough is enough.

The Gambian President And His Stupid Ignorant Ranting

The President of the Gambia, Yahya Jammeh has issued a strongly-worded warning to all hotel and house owners in the tiny West African country to desist from renting their houses and hotel rooms to homosexuals or face the music. This warning is coming barely a year after he asked the homosexuals to leave the country or risk having their heads cut off.

This type of statement is very worrisome and very disturbing coming from a head of the state of a country and the implication could be disastrous not only to the Gambians but also to foreigners and tourists who are part of the bed rock of the economy of the tiny West African nation.

It is sad that up till this moment there has been no strong condemnation either from his fellow African leaders or the international community over the careless and irresponsible statement.

Specifically on May 23 this year, President Jammeh urged party members of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), who represents the majority in the country’s National Assembly, not to rent or allow homosexuals to stay in their compounds. The statement was made at a monument commemorating the 1994 coup that brought him, a former lieutenant in the Gambian army, into power.

Last year, President Jammeh publicly denounced homosexuality and gave LGBT people in Gambia an ultimatum to leave the country stating that he would “cut off the head” of anyone believed to be homosexual discovered in Gambia. He also warned Gambian hotel owners not to rent rooms to homosexuals.

This is a very serious issue bearing in mind that the right to housing is guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) which is also articulated in the Yogyakarta Principles on the application of international human rights law in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity.

Also, the rights to dignity and security, components of the right to housing, are guaranteed under the Gambian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Both instrument specifically stated that states may not permit forced evictions and must ensure non-discrimination in access to adequate housing for all of its citizens.

The Number 4 of the General Comment of the Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (CESCR) describes the right to adequate housing as “the right to live somewhere in security, peace, and dignity,” and states that individual are entitled to adequate housing without discrimination. The Number 7 on forced evictions requires States to refrain from forced evictions, to enforce the law against third parties who forcibly evict and to take appropriate measures to prevent discrimination while the Number 20 states that sexual orientation and gender identity is a prohibited ground of discrimination under ICESCR and thus State Parties, including the Gambia, may not discriminate or forcibly evict people on these grounds. Moreover, the UN Special Rapporteur on adequate housing urges States to protect all persons from forced evictions and ensure non-discriminatory access to adequate housing for persons belonging to minorities.

The right to adequate housing additionally implicates the rights to dignity, food, water, health, education, work, security of the person, security of the home, freedom from cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, and freedom of movement.

The fact is that in every democracy all citizens have the right to adequate housing and any government that could not provide adequate housing to its citizens or deny them one as a result of their sexuality should bury their heads in shame. On that note the Gambian leader should bury his head in shame.

Europe and America have been crying and shouting of illegal immigration and increasing number of asylum seekers coming to their country-including Nick Griffin the leader of the British National Party who recently called for the death of illegal immigrants entering into Europe-but it is exactly statements like this from the Gambian leader that pushes the marginalised and vulnerable people to leave their home country in the first place to seek for better life and security elsewhere. I am therefore flabbergasted that the European Union and even the United States have not made a very strong statement to condemn this neo-Nazi statement.

In a democracy which the Gambia claims to be, a state does not belong to an individual and it is never run according to the dictates, whims and caprices of an individual, no matter how intelligent or passionate the person is. It is a common wealth run by everybody in that state through their elected representatives and the meaning of this is that the State of Gambia is made up of people of different religions, creed, sexual orientation and colours and under the democracy all these interests must be protected.

The fact that the Gambian leader is homophobic should not be a reason for him to initiate a reign of terror and witch hunt against his own people and the people he hated with passion. Under democracy, not liking somebody or their opinion is never an excuse or a ground to maltreat them. Every Gambian irrespective of their colour, language, sexual orientation or religion and even creed are equal before and under the law and the constitution of the State of Gambia and that fact must be accepted and respected.

The world should do something. Infamous world leaders including Hitler and Mussolini all began like this and we do not want a repeat of what happened prior and during the Second World War to happen again. If this is allowed to happen in Africa, it could be disastrous bearing in mind the high level of poverty, hatred, division and ignorance in the continent.

The Gambian leader is not new to controversy and had in the past made numerous stupid ranting like this one. Couple of years back he claimed he could cure HIV and AIDS with traditional medicine leaving sane minds to begin to question the sanity of his own mind. It is a big shame that Africans could allow itself to be ruled by ignorant people like President Jammeh. Is that not another shame on the continent which refuses to grow due to leaders like him, outbursts like this, lack of respect for human rights, denial of facts, hatred amongst its people and state endorsed and encouraged discriminations and homophobia.

Ignorance and poverty fuels homophobia and stalls peace and development and if the likes of the Gambian President are allowed to go on with this type of provocation, it could be disastrous not only for the country but also for the entire West African region and the whole continent.

This is very disturbing and we cannot afford to keep quiet, silent and neutral when people’s lives are at stake. The respect for boundaries and sovereignty should never be put into consideration in times like this and times like this are exactly when sanctions and embargos are highly needed. The Gambia should be the centre of the world till the Gambian President regains his sanity. We cannot continue to tolerate this type of ignorance and foolish ranting and outbursts from shallow African leaders who wallow in corruption and still have time to condemn their people and make life miserable for them.

The sad story is that at the end of the day, the poor masses are going to bear the consequences. If the tourists stop coming for fear of their lives, the economy could be weakened and the common people would surely bear the brunt while corrupt leaders like Jammeh would have nothing to worry about after all they have stolen a lot of wealth to take them till thy kingdom come. And it is this truism that Africans should be aware of before jumping in the bandwagon of their ignorant leaders. Look at Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, he enjoys while his people die of hunger, starvation and disease. I think it is high time Africans woke up from their slumber. They have slept enough!

The right to housing and sexual orientation are fundamental human right issues and the Gambia being a signatory to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights is under obligation to respect the instrument. It does not really matter what the president and his political party believe in, after all the Gambia is not a theocracy and even if it is, the president and his men who are stinking of corruption should be reminded that corruption is a very big sin and antagonistic to theocracy.

Any reasonable state should not force a religion on its citizen. The people have a right to make a choice including the right to choose and abandon any religion without the fear of threat, harm, intimidation or murder. They also have the right to choose not to believe in anything and that choice must be respected because they are inalienable, sacred, democratic and inherent in human nature.

Therefore whatever pushed the Gambian leader to make such statements should also push him to withdraw such a nasty statement. Such a statement is capable of inciting hatred against the homosexuals and the international community should force him to bear the consequences of any action generated by this callous statement.

Nick Griffin, BNP And The Call To Murder ‘Illegal Immigrants’!

While answering questions recently from the BBC Parliament’s ‘The Record Europe’, Nick Griffin the Leader of the British National Party called for the sinking of the ships carrying ‘illegal immigrants’ in the ocean to stop them from coming over to Europe.

He never minced words and shamelessly opinionated that boats carrying migrants from Africa to Europe should be sunk to stop Europe being ‘swamped by the Third World’.

"Frankly, they need to sink several of those boats," he told BBC. "Anyone coming up with measures like that we'll support but anything which is there as a 'oh, we need to do something about it’ but in the end doing something about it means bringing them into Europe we will oppose."

Griffin’s statement echoes a similar sentiment made in June 2003 by Umberto Boss the leader of the Italian Northern League now in alliance with the British UK Independence Party. Umberto however added that sinking of the ships should be accompanied with open gunfire on the ‘illegal immigrants’.

I have always been an advocate of the fact that the freedom of the people should always be paramount and respected by all means especially the right to freedoms of speech and opinion. Giving the people the freedom of speech, opinion and access to information is not a luxury or a privilege. They deserve it because it is sacred, inalienable and inherent in human nature. However that freedom of speech should not be used to promote hatred, racism, division, homicide and genocide which are exactly what Nick Griffin has just called for.

The First Amendment of the constitution of the United States of America is explicit on this. It gives people the right to the freedom of speech and opinion and even to harbour hatred against a person or group of people within them but then makes it a punishable felony to openly advocate for hatred, division, genocide and racism against a person or a group of people in the public or through any medium intended for the public.

For instance the US Supreme Court effectively shaped the First Amendment in such a manner as to permit a multitude of restrictions on speech. Further restrictions on speech were accepted by the Supreme Court when it decided Gitlow v. New York, 268 U.S. 652(1925). Writing for the majority, Justice Edward Sanford suggested that states could punish words that ‘by their very nature, involve danger to the public peace and to the security of the state.’ Lawmakers were given the freedom to decide which speech would constitute a danger.

The UK parliament should borrow a leaf from their US counterpart before it becomes too late. I am of the opinion that the Parliament should as a matter of urgency enact a law to classify this outburst and similar outbursts by Nick Griffin and people like him as speeches capable of constituting danger to the public peace and punishable by imprisonment. The right to the freedom of speech is a hallowed one but then it should not be carried beyond the sphere of decency.

It is therefore disgusting that a leader of a political party could say such a thing and go scot-free and bearing in mind that the leader in question is not just a leader of a political in any country but in the United Kingdom, one of the cradles of the modern democracy, makes one sick.

Frankly the problem of ‘illegal immigration’ has been so overwhelming for Europe to bear but the fact is that the issue of ‘illegal immigration’ here is a reflection of injustices being perpetrated against the third world by the west. The fact that some people are dying somewhere because of lack of food and water and poverty and elsewhere same food and water are not just being taken for granted but wantonly wasted is enough scandal for heaven to close her door on us perpetually.

The knowledge that weapons being used in the civil wars and internal strife of these third world countries come from the west is enough to make us sick just as it is scandalous to appreciate the fact that monies looted from these poor third world countries are banked here in the west. There is no way we can ever deny the fact that the problem of ‘illegal immigration’ from the third world is partly caused by the west and for that problem to be solved, the west has to begin to learn how to be sincere by sanctioning the corrupt leaders in the third world especially the African leaders.

Most of the UK politicians and political parties including Gordon Brown’s Labour and David Cameroun’s Conservative have been strongly against any measure to legalise the ‘illegal immigrants’ already here in the UK citing their reason as the fact that you cannot build legality out of illegality. That is acceptable but one thing these politicians failed to understand is that the problem of ‘illegal immigration’ is as a result of illegal activities of the west in most of these poor third world countries and they have to continue bearing the consequence till they sincerely proffer a solution to them.

Take for instance the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. Before the discovery of the first oil well in Oloibiri town in the Niger Delta, most of the communities depended on farming and fishing as their source of income and means of livelihood and with the arrival of the oil companies from the west came pollution and illegal activities including gas flaring that left at least 90 percent of these vast arable areas infertile. And despite the fact that gas flaring has been outlawed internationally and even by a High Court ruling in Nigeria in 2005 the oil companies in the Niger Delta continues to perpetrate that. In fact the largest gas flaring operations in the world occurs in the Niger Delta of Nigeria.

The Niger Delta is a home to over 31 million people and the implication is that each of these people have had their means of survival cut to the barest minimum due to the activities of these western oil companies including the Royal Dutch Shell which in the 1990s under the regime of Nigerian Dictator Sani Abacha played a part in the execution of a Nigerian environmentalist and playwright, Ken Saro Wiwa.

Ken Saro Wiwa was pleading for his voice to be heard over the evil being perpetrated by the Royal Dutch Shell and the Chevron in his native Ogoniland before he met his untimely death. Ogoniland is a 404-square-mile (1050 km2) region in the southeast of the Niger Delta basin. Economically viable petroleum was discovered in Ogoniland in 1957, just one year after the discovery of Nigeria's first commercial petroleum deposit, with Royal Dutch Shell and Chevron Corporation setting up shop throughout the next two decades. The Ogoni people, a minority ethnic group of about half a million people who call Ogoniland home, and other ethnic groups in the region attest that during this time, the government began forcing them to abandon their land to oil companies without consultation and offering negligible compensation.

This is further supported by a 1979 constitutional addition which afforded the federal government full ownership and rights to all Nigerian territory and also decided that all compensation for land would ‘be based on the value of the crops on the land at the time of its acquisition not on the value of the land itself.’ The Nigerian government could now distribute the land to oil companies as it deemed fit. The corrupt western oil companies took advantage of the situation to the detriment of the local people who they are supposed to be responsible to socially. They simply threw caution to the wind and buried the beautiful principle of corporate social responsibility.

When people like these have had their means of livelihood cut to the barest minimum, the next and nearest option becomes moving out of their homeland to elsewhere in search of means of livelihood. It is a natural instinct in man. Man must survive and for him to survive he need food and water and he could go to any means to get that including getting himself inside a ship as an ‘illegal immigrant’ to come to Europe. Bear in mind that the push factor here is to survive. The need to have food and water pushes them. These food and water is what they cannot get in their own communities already rendered infertile by these western oil companies and they have to move.

This could explain why most of them have fled out of their home to different parts of Nigeria, Africa and to Europe and these are people Nick Griffin want their ship to be sunk in the ocean as they are making this life-saving journey.

This statement from Griffin is highly provocative and echoes what our fathers went through during the slave trade when thousands of them were thrown off the ship to drown in order to save the ship from capsizing. If Nick Griffin had read about the history of the slave trade, he may not have said that but his ignorance pushes him to provoke the people the more and he is always going scot-free. I am quite surprised that up till now nobody has been calling for his resignation just like we all did during the expenses scandal in the commons. Oh! Britain where has thou virtue runneth to?

I am sick of this type of provocation and this type of provocation is capable of bringing tension within the community and bringing tension and division within the British community is exactly what Nick Griffin and his British National Party stands for. This is arrant madness and everybody must see it that way.

Come to think of think of it, what type of political party with sane human beings and leaders could advocate such a cynical move. We have not yet come out of the consequences of the evil perpetrated by the Nazi Germany and Nick and his party want to drag us back there again. The Nazi party began exactly the way the British National Party began and even won the elections under the same circumstances in which the British National Party won theirs. And yet nobody has deemed it fit to stop them.

Following the law and the spirit of the law is one of the beauties of democracy but there are times when it is very necessary to change a law either to accommodate well refined and progressive opinions or to thrash out retrogressive, mundane and cynical ones. That time is now and it is high time the British Parliament did something to curtail the wings of the British National Party. However that thing must follow the due process of the law. We cannot do something illegal and that is where the beauty and virtue of democracy lies.

Democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people meaning that it is a form of government that depends heavily on the pulse, heartbeat and opinion of the people and the opinion of the average British today is that the British National Party is becoming too hot and too provocative for our liking and therefore the Parliament must do something about it. The United States of America set a precedent on this in 1940.

In 1940 the Congress enacted the Smith Act. The Smith Act made punishable the advocacy of ‘the propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force and violence.’ The law was mainly used as a weapon against Communist leaders. The constitutionality of the Act was questioned in Dennis v. United States 341 U.S. 494 (1951). The Court upheld the law in 1951 by a 6-2 vote (Justice Tom C. Clark did not participate because he had previously ordered the prosecutions when he was the Attorney General). Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson relied on Oliver Wendell Holmes' ‘clear and present danger’ test when he wrote for the majority.

Vinson suggested that the doctrine did not require the government to ‘wait until the putsch is about to be executed, the plans have been laid and the signal is awaited’, thereby broadly defining the words ‘clear and present danger.’ Thus, even though there was no immediate danger posed by the Communist Party's ideas, the Court allowed the Congress to restrict the Communist Party's speech.

Similarly here in the UK, even though there is not yet an immediate danger posed by the utterances and provocations of the British National Party, the Parliament should move fast in the interest of the public to restrict the freedom of the BNP before their Nazi style putsch is executed. There is a clear and present danger with the presence of the BNP and therefore the parliament must not ‘wait until the putsch is about to be executed, the plans have been laid and the signal is awaited’.

We do not want to see another war. We do not want to see another Second World War and we do not want to see another holocaust. When I lived in Europe, I took interest in the question of Jewish holocaust and therefore read almost everything worth reading about the holocaust as well as visited a lot of places including the concentration camps that perpetuates eternally the evils of Nazism and my conclusion after all these is that over my dead body should we allow such a thing to happen again in our life time and in the life time of our children and their children and their children children.

The Nazis had a road map on how to achieve their ‘perfect’ state status including the expelling and killing of all Jews in their territory, the homosexuals, disabled and then the Africans and other immigrants. Their main objective is to achieve pure German breed that would be free from any form of racial interference. They simply wanted an ideal state composed of Germans only and this is exactly what the British National Party is trying to achieve under Nick Griffin and his cabals.

We cannot remain silent in the face of this type of threat. This is not an empty threat and that is why we have to take the British National Party very serious and do something to stop them from inflicting another grievous injury to the soul of humanity.
